Designed specifically for complete beginners, this program will introduce you to Taekwondo in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment.
No experience is required.
No intimidating gym atmosphere.
Just professional coaching and a great group of people all starting their journey together.

Your 4-week beginner experience includes:
4 Professionally coached classes (1 class a week)
Introduction to Olympic Style Taekwondo.
Basic kicks, punches and self-defense.
Fitness, strength and conditioning

Next Intake: Starting Monday August 3rd, 2026 or Wednesday August 5th, 2026.
Cost: Only $20
If you decide to continue training with us after completing the program, we'll credit your $20 towards your ongoing monthly membership.
Location: AB TKD Academy, 16 Mathers Road, Hoon Hay, Christchurch
Training Times: Monday Beginners: 6:30pm to 8pm or Wednesday Beginners: 6:30pm to 8pm

I'm not very fit. Can I still join?

Absolutely.
Many of our students start with little or no fitness experience.
You'll train at your own pace, and your fitness will naturally improve over the four weeks.
Do I need to buy a uniform?

No.
Wear comfortable gym clothing.
If you decide to continue after the program, we'll help you choose a uniform.
Am I too old?

Not at all.
Our adult students range from teenagers through to adults in their 50s and beyond.
Will I have to fight?

No.
The Beginner Program focuses on learning the fundamentals in a safe, supportive environment.
There is no contact sparring required.
If you've enjoyed the experience, you can continue training in our regular adult classes.
There is absolutely no obligation to continue.
